“As public works architects we have a responsibility to lead with a ‘people first’ design approach that celebrates people and creates experiences of inclusion, safety, and intrigue.”
Katie is passionate about elevating understanding of how the built environment affects human experience and behavior. As a mom of three, she understands the decisions we make today impact future generations and strives to create environments that support wellbeing, inspire curiosity, and will serve our communities for many years to come.
With 15 years of experience and a background in interior design and architecture, Katie has learned the art of connecting with people. Through an interactive process of listening, learning, and discovering with her clients she translates their vision into design that thoughtfully knits together functional goals with beauty, clarity, and the unique character of that community.
She is guided by a quote by Finnish architect Eliel Saarinen, “always design a thing by considering it in its next larger context—a chair in a room, a room in a house, a house in an environment, an environment in a city plan.” This holistic perspective informs Katie’s talent for blurring the line between interior design and architecture and celebrating the connection between people and place.
