The Portland International Airport parking, rental car, and operations center (PACR) has won the top ‘Prevention through Design’ (PtD) award from the National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH), awarded at the National Safety Council Congress. The PtD program supports designing out hazards that impact workers; this meaningful recognition acknowledges steps taken to keep workers safe while PACR was being built and designing for safer operation and maintenance once built. The $325 million five-facility PACR combines a critical airport operations center incorporating resilient design along with six-level long-term parking and rental car facilities. (Designed by YGH, before merger with Integrus).

We view safety as an aspect of inclusive design and appreciate working with progressive and caring clients like the Port that value creating a safe, efficient, and enjoyable work environment for the operations and maintenance staff that keep its facilities functional.
