“I am passionate about using design to improve people’s lives and I love to see the power of design demonstrated in the outcomes of our work.”
Ericka likens architecture to a team sport— just like her early and enduring love of soccer—in that it requires coordination, trust, and a shared goal. She finds joy in the rhythm of a team effort: collaborating with colleagues, clients, communities to bring visionary ideas to life.
Her belief that architects should be “global citizens” has shaped both her life and her career. A formative chapter spent building a school in rural Guatemala is a continuing influence, deepening her commitment to cultural humility, regenerative design, and the power of curiosity. At Integrus, Ericka is instrumental in organizing Service Day activities that support community-based organizations, and she volunteers as a design instructor with youth programs like minority-focused Hip Hop Architecture Camp and Architects in Schools.
Over the past 18 years, Ericka has been a transformative voice in sustainable and equitable design on higher education and civic projects. Her passion lies not just in performance metrics, but in people—how buildings shape lives and reflect their values. Whether reusing a structure, reducing embodied carbon, or advocating for healthier materials, she sees every design project as an opportunity to contribute to a better climate future. She also guides operational carbon reduction efforts across our offices and is integral to firm participation in the ILFI Just label program offering transparency of internal corporate social justice and equity practices.
At her core, Ericka is most energized by the human side of architecture: the relationships, the shared vision, and the hope that—on the best days—the design process can feel like a team playing with joy.
