The uncommon combination of architecture and economics studies gives Brian the holistic perspective to make timely, wise design decisions within budget constraints—foundational skills both as an architect and for his lasting roles in firm and industry leadership.
Brian has dedicated his career to the planning and collaborative design of over $400 million in K12 and higher education learning environments. Believing the design of schools and universities has a profound effect on teaching and learning drives his passion for education focused design. With over 30 years of experience, Brian has honed a design approach that is innovative and exploratory, for places that creatively inspire and support student learning and achievement.
He has led many large, complex, and phased occupancy efforts and is experienced in alternative delivery methods incorporating early collaboration with client, engineering and construction project team members. An architect with strong design, management and construction management skills, Brian is known for his team-building ability and his rigorous attention to design detail and systems integration.
Brian’s education design work has received extensive regional and national honors. He is an active leader in several education facilities industry groups, including the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) and the Committee for Architecture in Education (CAE). He sits on the Technical Advisory Committee at the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and serves on the ALEP Commission at A4LE.
