PROJECT DETAILS
An embassy is much more than a building or a work of architecture; it functions as the symbolic representation of countries’ relationships to one another. While communicating values and ideals, an embassy has the difficult task of representing two diametrically opposed concepts of openness and security.
Administered by the U.S. Department of State, Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO), contemporary embassy design responds to the functional and security needs of diplomatic activities as well as local environmental and social factors that convey the ideals, principles, technical innovation, and design leadership of the United States. Embassy design incorporates local climate responsive materials, indigenous art and regionally based landscape design. Current standards target LEED based environmental goals for energy efficiency and resilience.
Integrus and YGH each bring more than 30 years of embassy design, from aesthetic concept, to bridging documents, engineering, and construction administration for 20+ U.S. embassies worldwide. It is an honor and a privilege to collaborate with a range of U.S. based and local partners to design these important spaces representing the United States and which provide the backdrop for diplomacy and interactions with people around the globe.
