A civic center with key city services blends with a vibrant public plaza for community gathering and events

PROJECT DETAILS

Community is a key element in the design of this LEED Gold civic center, which includes the city hall, police department, and a public plaza. Building design was inspired by both agricultural traditions and the Native American history of the area.

Considering the project’s role in the greater community and how it would interact positively with adjacent buildings, the design team created and reinforced existing connections that strengthen the fabric of the downtown core. Public functions include a community commons providing an integral hub for the city. From daily use to transformation as a weekly open-air market starting in spring through the fall, as well as for other community events throughout the year.
