PROJECT DETAILS
An updated mid-century music center is a duet between music and architectural form bridging the gap between two eras of architecture. The University desired to elevate the campus’ visual musical experience while providing community outreach opportunities with a timeless and engaging instructional facility.
This renovation and addition provide rehearsal and performance spaces – neither of which existed previously – as well as practice studio space, administrative areas, and student study areas. A clear and functional addition blends with the existing music building while extending a contiguous layout. Illustrative of the program it houses, the addition takes its cues from the unique and artistic qualities that music offers, not only shaping the architecture, but also complementing and improving the existing building.
A new entry with soaring glass walls reconfigured to the surrounding buildings and shared greenspace better connects the building to the campus.
